Frequently Asked Questions

Which Faulkner County Library branches offer the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program?

Conway - Main Branch, Greenbrier, Mayflower, Mt. Vernon, & Vilonia

Do these branches all offer online registration and book logging?

Conway - Main Branch & Greenbrier offer online registration & logging through the ReadSquared platform. All other registrations will be forwarded to the patron's chosen branch, where they will be notified by that branch about how they host the program at that particular branch.

Who can participate in this program?

Any child from birth until they enter kindergarten can participate in this program.

How long will this program take?

The program will take anywhere from a few months to a few years. The program is self-paced and will depend on how often you read together and log your books.

How many children can participate?

All of them (provided they have not started kindergarten)! Make it even more fun and read as a family.

How often will we earn prizes?

You will get a free book when you register for the program, and for every 100 books you complete. If you complete the program you will earn a minimum of 11 books for your home library. You will also earn a badge online and unlock special reading rewards every 100 books read.

How will we get our prizes?

You will be notified when your prizes are ready for pick up at your library branch.

How do we log books?

An adult ReadSquared account is required to register a child for the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Once that has been completed, you will log back into ReadSquared to enter the titles of the books you have read together.

It asks for title and author? Do we have to provide both?

No, while it asks for both, only the book title is required.

What if my child just wants to read the same books over and over?

That's great! Each time you read a book, log it. It counts even if it is the 50th time you've read Goodnight Moon.

Does it matter who reads to my child?

Nope. Any books that caregivers, family members, grandparents, daycares, etc., read to your little one counts. You just have to log it.
